Chances are, no.
People like to slap the term “hard-gainer” on anyone that has trouble gaining muscle in any measurement. The typical voucher for this is a young male in his teens, or early twenties, trying anything and everything possible in order to gain that oh-so-distant size.
The truth of the matter is — you have a checklist and you are probably not hitting all of the marks. So here it is:
- Is your nutrition in check?
- Are you switching modalities?
- Are you sleeping enough?
- Are you listening to your body?
- Are you over-training?
- Are you consistent?
- Is your form correct, and are you stimulating the correct muscles per lift?
- Are you active during your rest days?
- Are the information and methods being applied correctly?
The answer to ALL of these needs to be yes. Otherwise, you will only grow if you are a genetic gift to this earth.
Our Process
01
Nutrition
Micronutrients are first. Not Macro’s. Eating a balanced diet and making sure NO calories are filler is highly important. Eat your greens, eat your fats (olive oil, butter, avocado), eat complex carbohydrates instead of simple, and maintain a high protein diet.
02
program
You need to cycle through different areas of lifting. There is no “best” They are all appropriate when applied safely. Nuance is king. Stick with one modality a month.
03
recovery
Sleep 8-10 hours a day if you are not growing. During your rest days, do not just sit on the couch and be still. make sure your blood is pumping. Blood needs to get to the growth site, the more blood, the better.
04
Grow
Over-training is a thing. A very real thing. Listen to your body. If you are going into the gym tired, walk out. It is not a precise formula. You need to listen to your body first, follow your program second, and throw away Instagram fitness advice.
