Meditation: It’s More Than Just Spiritual Practice
Meditation is often associated with spirituality, but it is much more than that. It is a practice that can help you be present and mindful, and it can even help you solve problems.
Have you ever had your best ideas while in the shower or on the toilet? That’s because your mind is able to wander and process information without any distractions. In our daily lives, we are bombarded with stimuli from our environment, and it can be difficult to process and retain information. Meditation provides a way to cut off these distractions and allow our brains to catch up.
When you meditate, you are attempting to be present and cut off your five senses so that your brain can process information. Many people find that the bathroom is the perfect place to meditate because it is a closed room with few distractions. In the bathtub, you can create a simulated 60% sensory deprivation chamber without even realizing it.
To start meditating, turn off the lights or have a soft light source, put on green sound (which is said to help with thought processing), have no other sounds around you, sit comfortably, focus on your breathing, and let your mind wander. Note what your mind wanders to because this can help you problem-solve.
Meditation is not just hocus pocus or snake oil. It is a powerful tool for learning to be present, processing information, and problem-solving. Give it a try and see how it can help you in your daily life.
